VISUAL ARTS INTEGRATION

learn accessible, effective, and adaptable arts integration strategies

Visual Arts Integration: Overview

This 100-level course will help you prepare to integrate mixed media sculptural modeling into your classroom. You will practice 2-D and 3-D visual arts routines that prepare students with creative thinking, behaviors, and attitudes that support meaning-making through a variety of visual arts processes.

We understand the real barriers teachers face when integrating the visual arts, and how vast and potentially overwhelming the visual arts world can be. This strategy offers creative processes that we’ve found to be accessible, effective, and adaptable across learning contexts.

You do NOT have to have any visual arts skills to take this course. Your willingness to try, and to reflect on your experiences, qualifies you for leading your students through these creative processes. So, give yourself permission to be imperfect.

The ultimate goal of this course is to empower students to make meaning for themselves. This comes largely through repeat practice with metaphorical thinking and reflection. These tools for metacognition help students find agency in their learning.
